“I’m so glad we found Bernadett. She creates such a warm, supportive atmosphere and my daughter felt so comfortable with her. Bernadett gave her the space to talk about her worries and suggested some ways of coping with them. She loved using the art materials too. With Bernadett’s help she managed to go away on a school trip, which has hugely improved her confidence.”

“I really enjoyed my time being with Bernadett. It was fun and I was able to talk about my anxiety because she was really open. She really helped me a lot and she gave me a big boost to go on my overnight trip with school. One of my favourite things to do was art, and I kept some of the pieces of art I made which make me feel happy.”
Testimonial by Renetta Neal Registered Member of BACP, Pg Dip Counselling Children, Pg Dip Supervision I have been supervising Bernadett Andalits since 2014, in a group with Carefree Kids Charity where Bernadett trained and provided therapeutic play sessions to children in schools, as an individual who provides therapeutic play sessions in Private Practice also since December 2016. I supervise Bernadett currently for the therapeutic work she does with children either in schools or in private practice. Bernadett brings her work mainly through case presentations and case discussions illustrated with notes. Bernadett is open in her use of supervision to reflect on therapeutic relationships with the children she works with, including the exploration of how her work affects her personally i.e. in the transference/counter-transference. Since I started Supervising Bernadett I have seen how she has improved in her ability to identify her 'stuck' points, increasing confidence and effectiveness working with increasingly complex presentations. Bernadett is a reflective practitioner who has consolidated her learning and strengthened her practice, particularly by highlighting and taking seriously any concerns as they arise. Bernadett consults more widely than just in supervision for advice and support, and for development opportunities. Bernadett is always open to new learning and is responsive to the educational aspect of our work together. The challenge of working in schools and relating to the system within which the work takes place is often explored. Boundaries and confidentiality between the differing relationships with child, teachers and employing body can lead to some pressures that Bernadett is becoming more confident in dealing with in an ethical and containing way. Bernadett is well experienced in working therapeutically with children and provides a safe space where children can be heard and explore their inner worlds through play. " As my child went through changes of schools and personal changes in the family it was very beneficial for me to find somebody with whom my child could freely express anything that bothered or worried him. It was very nice, because he knew Bernadett already and even though the first day he was not sure what to expect- at pick up time it was a different story.
I remember him saying : "Is it time already?" and the next sessions he was always looking forward to it. He was coming out really happy and although he did not share his experience from the room but was chatting about how he really enjoyed it. As a mother I had an hour of free time for myself and was happy that my child is in a safe environment having 1 : 1 attention and is free to express his emotions in a way that suits him and healing him inside. I have definitely seen changes as he became calmer and more accepting in unpredictable situations which usually created resistance and anger in him that would last up to an hour and with a complete meltdown- which were energy draining from a parent side too. It was good that it was structured and regular and I think the block of 8 sessions can be easily fitted in a school term. I felt reassured with the confidentiality and was sure that in case of any safeguarding issue, Bernadett would not leave it unnoticed. I would definitely recommend this way of intervention if you have any doubts about your child's development. Every child deserves one-to-one attention from a professional, who is warm and empathetic towards his or her feelings." " I would recommend it to definitely try it out, see if you like it or not. I did like it.
Could have been longer, sometimes one hour felt like ten minutes. I have nothing else to say just try it out, it was worth it!" |
